The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2021 is Coming!

Has it been a year already?! I can’t believe the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale aka the NSALE is already upon us! For those of y’all who don’t know, Nordstrom is one of my absolute favorite retailers and the NSALE is one of if not my favorite annual sale to shop.

WHAT IS THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale {NSALE} is an annual sale that occurs right before the fall season. It’s unlike any other sale because Nordstrom offers brand new items at discounted prices before the fall season begins. Some of the brands will include Tory Burch, Blank NYC, Steve Madden, Marc Fisher, IVL Collective, and many more. For me, this is the optimal time to stock up on summer-to-fall pieces and fall and winter staple items.

SAVE THE {SALE} DATES

July 6th {TODAY!!} Nordstrom releases the online preview {linked HERE}; everyone can see what will be a part of this year’s Anniversary Sale

July 12th 3am est Nordstrom’s Icon Status Cardholders can shop early access

July 14th 3am est Nordstrom’s Ambassador Status Cardholders can shop early access

July 16th 3am est Nordstrom’s Influencer Status Cardholders can shop early access*

July 28th 3am est everyone {cardholders and non-cardholders} has access to the sale

August 8th sale ends and items go to full price

HOW TO SHOP EARLY ACCESS

For early access to the sale, I highly recommend signing up for a Nordstrom credit card if you don’t already have one. You can sign up HERE. While you don’t need the card to shop the sale, you will need to have and use the card to shop early. One of the best perks to the credit card is the ability to shop the sale ahead of everyone else. You also get free alterations and earn points toward Nordstrom Notes to spend in Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack. Another bonus: if you sign up right now, Nordstrom will give you a $60 Note to use on future purchases *hint* at the NSALE*. {Disclaimer: Please be responsible and really think about if opening a Nordstrom account is the best thing for you}

WHAT I’M SHOPPING FOR: FALL WARDROBE CHECKLIST

Last year, I spent the majority of my budget purchasing shoes after cleaning out my closet. This year I’ll be focused on more staple pieces like good pairs of jeans, neutral sweaters, cardigans, basic tees, and a statement coat. A lot of these items are timeless and will last me for years to come.

Personally, I always recommend looking for and purchasing the following from the NSALE:

Fall Hat
Leather Jacket
Everyday Jewelry
Neutral Sweaters
Black Leggings
Cozy Cardigans
Fall Dresses
Basic Tees {both short- and long-sleeved}
Statement Coat {can be a splurge but will last for YEARS}
Everyday, Comfortable Flats or Mules
Good Pair of Sneakers
Workout Wear {I’m obsessed with the Zella leggings and purchase at least one pair every year}
Investment Handbag {Rebecca Minkoff or Tory Burch are my go-to}

SOME TIPS & TRICKS

Apply for a Nordstrom card {if this is the right move for you and your budget}. You’ll be able to shop the sale ahead of others to purchase the pieces you have your eye on.
Go through your closet. Did you shop the sale last year? What did you purchase? What do you need to purchase again? Did you do a closet cleanout? What did you throw away or donate that needs replaced? This year, I’m trying to add more neutrals and a few bright colors to my closet. I also need some new cardigans, basic tees in multiple colors, an investment coat, and good quality denim.
Create a budget and stick to it. Based on what you feel you need to purchase, create a budget and stick to it as much as you can. For example, I might spend $200 of my own money, use $150 of the Nordstrom gift cards I’ve been hoarding {I only ask for Nordstrom gift cards, so I can save them to use for the NSALE!}, and $100 in Nordstrom Notes {also been hoarding these}. This gives me $450 to spend on the sale, so I would probably avoid shoes and handbags because those add up quick and stick to basic tees, a cardigan or two, a good pair of denim, and a statement coat.
Browse the online preview TODAY and create an NSALE Wish List. On the Nordstrom app and website, you can create Wish Lists and check out directly from that Wish List, which will make purchasing items during the sale extremely quick and easy.
Shop online. Online means you have access to the merchandise in the stores as well as their warehouses. You also get to avoid long lines, huge crowds, and you get what you want with just a few clicks. BONUS: Nordstrom always offers free shipping, and if something doesn’t work, you can return to your local Nordstrom store or ship it back with a pre-paid return label.
Download the Nordstrom app. It will send you general notifications about the sale and notifications about restocks on items in your Wish List.
